With an April snowstorm brewing for the morning, we were excited to be heading out of town to sunny California and sampling some delicious west coast beer (oh, and working… that too…of course).
Our jaunt was to take us through MN, arriving in Cali early afternoon. But the travel gods had another plan in mind, and so we found ourselves in sunny Atlanta, GA with time to kill after missing (by minutes!) our connector to our final destination.
Queue up The SweetWater Draft House & Grill (conveniently located next to Gate 25, our place of departure).
I had to order a Dark and Stormy, it’s been years, and we agreed that it would qualify since it contains ginger beer. If you haven’t tried one of these, and are looking for something refreshing and a bit zingy, give it a go. Gosling’s Black Seal Rum plus Gosling’s Stormy Ginger Beer pair wonderfully in a sharp, tangy, not-too-gingery mix that’s a perfect drink after stepping off a long, not-as-air-conditioned-as-you’d-like flight. Two thumbs up from moi.
Next up was the SweetWater Blue, a light, fresh blueberry wheat with a definite hit of blueberry and a fruity aroma. I’m always cheesed right off when I order a fruit beer and all I get is a faint whiff of fruit but nothing on the palate. It’s a solid nod to the blueberry without being overpowering, and is extremely easy to drink. I’ve pretty much finished it in the time it took to write this post. So that’s something.
